Purpose
Writing this blog is a good outlet to showcase my stock picks which should hopefully make for above average returns, after all that’s what we’re all interested in…making money. As the name implies, I’ll be buying and selling stocks/options and telling the reasons for each move. My stock picks reflect my true holdings, so you can be sure that I’ll be putting my money where my mouth is. Writing will force me to be more disciplined and less lazy about my stock picks and should generate good leads from you the readers. We’ll be setting up a section shortly where the readers will determine which stock they want me to review. So be sure to submit your entries.
Bio
My name is Arnold (Arnie) Joe and I have an undergraduate degree in business and a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. I work in the treasury department of a medium sized multi-national company in the area of corporate finance and M&A. In my spare time, I like to read about world economics and investing in both the US and Canada. I would classify myself as an Austrian economist. I’m generally pessimistic about most stocks, so don’t be surprised if after reviewing 20 good stocks, I only end up investing in one. If it was that easy to pick stocks, we’d all be rich and you probably wouldn’t be reading this blog and I wouldn’t be writing it. If I seem particularly bullish or bearish about a stock in My Portfolio, keep in mind I am biased as I have taken either a long or short position.
Investment History
I’ve been investing in stocks since the early 1980’s in one form or another with varying degrees of success. My initial experiences with investing were mostly failures and it’s only recently that I have had more success. Hopefully you’ll learn from my mistakes and avoid the numerous pitfalls that I’ve made.
